Midnight, New Year's Eve, in snowy downtown Ann Arbor.
Heather O'Neal and her companions arrive at the Corner Brewery in Ypsilanti after "
trekking" along the Huron River from Ann Arbor. The hikers left Heather's house on the Old West Side at 5pm in the afternoon, and made it to Ypsi just as the snow started really coming down.

Chris Pawlicki, owner of
Old Town, did NOT save a glass of champagne for me!
